Junior Cobras

Junior Cobras is our elementary‑level robotics program, made up of multiple FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge teams across the Peoria Unified School District—including Desert Harbor Elementary, Cotton Boll Elementary, and additional school sites—as well as FLL Discover teams run through the COOP Preschool program at Cactus High School. These teams introduce young students to STEM through hands‑on building, guided exploration, and age‑appropriate problem‑solving activities.
In both FLL Challenge and FLL Discover, students learn the core values of FIRST: teamwork, inclusion, innovation, and having fun while learning. They work together to explore real‑world themes, design simple mechanisms, and present their ideas with confidence. For many families, this is a child’s first experience with structured STEM learning, and it provides a safe, supportive environment where curiosity and creativity can grow.
Junior Cobras serves as the foundation of our full K–12 robotics pathway, helping students build early confidence, communication skills, and a love for learning that prepares them for the more advanced engineering challenges of FTC and FRC in middle and high school. It’s an engaging, age‑appropriate way to spark interest in STEM and set students on a path toward future success.
